INVITATION TO THE THIRSTY

 

John 7:37-39 NIV On the last and greatest day of the festival, Jesus stood and said, in a loud voice, “Let, anyone, who is thirsty come to Me and drink. Whoever believes in Me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them.” By this, He meant the (Holy) Spirit, whom those who believed in Him; were later to receive. Up to that time the Spirit; had not been given, since Jesus had not yet been glorified.

 

This invitation is open to the good and the bad. Jesus said, “(Whoever) believes in Me, rivers of living water will flow from within them." It is by the Holy Spirit that our life is transformed.

Galatians 5:22-23a TJB What the Spirit brings is very different: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, trustfulness, gentleness, and self-control.

 

Note: Many people say, “But I can’t stop doing it" (you fill it in).

The answer to your problem is the HOLY SPIRIT. One of the fruits of the Holy Spirit is self-control. Come to Christ…...

 

(The lady at the well) John 4:5-18,25 NIV So He came to a town in Samaria called Sychar, near the plot of ground Jacob had given to his son Joseph. Jacob’s well was there, and Jesus, tired; as He was from the journey, sat down by the well. It was about noon. When a Samaritan woman came to draw water, Jesus said to her, “Will you give Me a drink?” (His disciples had gone into the town to buy food.) The Samaritan woman said to Him, “You are a Jew and I am a Samaritan woman. How can you ask me for a drink?” (For Jews do not associate with Samaritans.) Jesus answered her, “If you knew the gift of God and who it is that asks you for a drink, you would have asked Him and He would have given you living water.” “Sir,” the woman said, “You have nothing to draw with and the well is deep. Where can you get this living water? Are you greater than our father Jacob, who gave us the well and drank from it himself, as did also; his sons and his livestock?” Jesus answered, “Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.” The woman said to Him, “Sir, give me this water so that I won’t get thirsty and have to keep coming here to draw water.” He told her, “Go, call your husband and come back.” “I have no husband,” she replied. Jesus, said to her, “You are right when you say you have no husband. The fact is; you, have had five husbands, and the man you now have is not your husband. What you have just said is quite true.” 25. The woman said, “I know that the Messiah, is coming. When He comes, He will explain everything to us.” Then Jesus declared, “I, the one speaking to you, I; am He.”

 

The word of God tells us, that He knows everything about us.

Psalm 139:1-4 NIV You have searched me, LORD, and You know me. You know when I sit and when; I rise; You perceive my thoughts from afar. You discern my going out and my; lying down; You are familiar with all my ways. Before, a word is on my tongue You, LORD, know it completely.

 

Note: Jesus being the Son of God, knew who the woman was, and her

lifestyle, but He did not judge her, she was a fornicator/adulterer. He told her the man you are with now is not your husband. But He still offered her the living water. He knows who you are, and He is offering the living water to you. You have not sinned so much that you can not be forgiven. Surrender your life to Christ, so He can start making changes today.

 

2 Peter 3:7-9 By the same word the present heavens and earth are reserved for fire, being kept for the day of judgment and destruction of the ungodly. But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord, a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day. The Lord is not slow in keeping His promise, as some understand slowness. Instead, He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.

 

The Bible calls the Holy Spirit the Helper, do you need help to change?

Believe in Jesus Christ and ask God for the Holy Spirit today.
